Guest Speaker:

Todd Lowe, Owner, Parthenon LLC

 Todd P. Lowe, CFA, is President and managing partner of Parthenon LLC, an independent investment advisory firm in Louisville, Kentucky.  He was a trumpet performance major at the University of Louisville prior to obtaining a BS in Finance from WKU.  Todd is board president of Kentucky College of Art and Design; board chair of Louisville Public Media (WUOL, WFPK, WFPL); president of the board of Fund for the Arts, and a member of the task force overseeing Imagine Greater Louisville 2020.  He is past chair of the Speed Museum, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and South Arts, as well as past chair of the Kentucky Arts Council, appointed by Governors Fletcher and Beshear.  He served as treasurer and on the executive committee for National Assembly of State Arts Agencies.  Todd has chaired numerous executive searches in the arts sector, and has chaired or co-chaired campaigns totaling in excess of $100 million for cultural organizations.  He lives on ten acres in Simpsonville, Kentucky with his bride, Fran, two cats (Josephine and Samantha), and a well-worn John Deere tractor.  


Meghan Caplan, Kentucky College of Art and Design at Spalding University

As the Director of Institutional Advancement at the Kentucky College of Art and Design at Spalding University (KyCAD), Meghan has proven success in fundraising, leadership, development, communications, and community partnership. She is a strategic thinker who utilizes innovative and creative solutions in fundraising campaigns. Prior to joining KyCAD in 2012, she worked as a trust attorney with US Bank Corporate in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 

Aside from fundraising for KyCAD, Meghan teaches business law and business ethics at Spalding University as an adjunct professor. She is a graduate of the Fund for the Arts’ NeXt! Leadership Development Program, Leadership Louisville’s Focus Louisville, a Spalding University School of Business Advisory Board member, and a Highlands-Douglass Neighborhood Association Board member. 

Meghan was born and raised in Owensboro, KY. She obtained her Bachelors of Arts in International Studies from Centre College in Danville, KY in 2003; and her Juris Doctor from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, MN in 2006. She went on to receive her Lean Six Sigma White Belt Certification in 2007, and a Certificate in Fundraising from Indiana University Lilly Center on Philanthropy in 2012. 

Meghan lives in Louisville with her husband Ariel and cat Sammy. In her free time she enjoys tennis, painting, and gardening.

Professional Development with AFP, CNPE, and The Lily Family School of Philanthropy!

Do you have a Major Gifts program? Are you interested in starting one or improving the one you have currently?

This three day seminar presented in collaboration with The Lily Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University will provide a thorough examination of major gift development and focuses on the Center’s unique eight-step process. Each step is addressed in detail, with accompanying activity leading to application of each principle.

By the time you are finished with this course you will have the knowledge and confidence to start to implement or improve a major gifts program for your organization.
