• The Mentoring Program is for current members of AFP
  • Request for a mentor is made by a Request Form (click here to download)
  • There will be a $25 fee to cover administrative expenses
  • Program is designed to provide guidance within our profession (not a skill-based training program)
  • Both mentors and participants will be asked to complete an Evaluation Form after one year of the relationship

Definition of Mentor

A mentor is an experienced development professional who will take a personal interest in the career development of the participant, providing advice and general support.

  • Career and goals guidance
  • Identification of appropriate training for program participant



  • Brown bag lunches 4 times per year which include discussions of resume-writing, interviewing, maximizing board relationships and managing the CEO


  • Sit together at AFP luncheon meetings
  • Mutually agreed upon one-on-one meetings
